Position Announcement:  Food Access Program Coordinator

Description

The Community Food & Agriculture Coalition (CFAC) seeks a Food Access Program Coordinator to lead an exciting new program designed to bring more local food to SNAP recipients.  The position is responsible for developing and coordinating the Double SNAP Program at farmers markets in Missoula County. This is a shared, full-time, year-round position that reports directly to the Executive Director of CFAC.

CFAC’s mission is to develop and strengthen Missoula County's food system: promoting sustainable agriculture; building regional self-reliance; and assuring all citizens equal access to healthy, affordable, and culturally-appropriate food.  CFAC facilitates dialogue, education, and collaboration within the community, encouraging creative problem-solving and proactive policy advocacy.  It is essential for all staff, including the Food Access Program Coordinator, to whole-heartedly embrace this vision and grassroots approach.  

Responsibilities

§  Develop and manage the Double SNAP Dollar Program.

§  Recruit and work with a Corps of SNAP Ambassadors to develop a marketing plan for the program.

§  Represent CFAC in public meetings regarding food access, along with Executive Director.

§  Reach out to CFAC members and general public through earned media.

§  Organize events to educate and update CFAC members about the program.

§  Write, track, and report on grants related to food access.

§  Research strategies for best practices regarding the Double SNAP Dollar Programs across the country.

§  Actively maintain solid relationships with farmers markets, local groceries markets, and CSA farms.

§  Support communications through the news and social media as well as written reports.

§  Manage interns and volunteers as appropriate.

§  Report to the Executive Director regularly, while maintaining self-direction.

§  Staff CFAC’s Food Access and Security Committee, scheduling and attending monthly meetings and providing     staff support between meetings.

Qualifications

§  In-depth experience and knowledge of the local food system in Missoula County or other similar community. 

§  Experience with grassroots organizing.

§  Ability to work with diverse populations.

§  Knowledge of local food and/or sustainable farming. 

§  Understanding of and support for CFAC’s vision of food, agriculture, and conservation.

§  Excellent communication, public speaking, writing, research, and project management skills.

§  Ability to work independently, take initiative, meet deadlines, and relate cooperatively and constructively with a diversity of stakeholders.

§  Solid computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

§  Experience with government and media relations is preferred.

§  Fluency with social media (e.g., Facebook) and website maintenance is preferred.

§  Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

§  College degree, graduate degree preferred.

The deadline for applications is August 24, 2015, however, the position will remain open until filled.  The intent is to have the position begin mid-September.
