Job Position: Development Consultant

Organic Seed Alliance (OSA) is a national non-profit organization that
advances the ethical development and stewardship of seed. We accomplish
this mission through research, education, and advocacy programs that
closely engage organic farmers and other seed professionals. In 2013 we
completed a strategic plan to guide the next ten years of our growth. The
development consultant will work with the executive director and the
director of advocacy and communications to carry out fundraising strategies
in 2015.

Primary Responsibilities

OSA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with
experience in fundraising. This job is a part-time contract position.
Priorities will include:

   -

   Overseeing the execution, management, and evaluation of a business
   membership program, including acquisitions and renewals
    -

   Managing timelines and production schedules for fundraising efforts
    -

   Working with the communications team on effective donor and promotional
   materials
    -

   Supporting the strategy and development of our annual appeal
    -

   Researching, identifying, and pursuing foundation, state, federal and
   corporate funding

   opportunities for national and regional projects and programs
    -

   Ensuring timely submittal of letters of inquiry and proposals and proper
   follow-up
    -

   Managing updates and correspondence to major donors, business members,
   and other

   supporters working with the communications team
    -

   Reviewing current fundraising activities and helping to develop an
   expanded strategy

   Six-month contract position with potential for a longer contract

   Part-time (10 – 20 hours/week)

   Location: Missoula, MT or Port Townsend, WA

   Qualifications


   -

   Development/fundraising experience (at least four years)
    -

   Good written skills (writing, editing, and proofreading)
    -

   Excellent verbal communications skills
    -

   Commitment to OSA’s mission and vision
    -

   Works well in a team and independently
    -

   Training in current computer technology desirable
    -

   Creative and resourceful
