Consumer group warns of spiraling transmission rates on power bills in Alberta

A coalition of groups representing residential, business and 
industrial power consumers are warning of rapidly rising transmission 
rates in Alberta, where electricity consultant David Gray predicts 
those rates, which are currently 15 percent of electricity bills in 
North America to 45 percent in Alberta, and Gray placed the blame for 
those rapidly rising rates on the Alberta Electric System Operator 
for overestimating demand for electricity that led to massive 
overbuilding of the transmission systems in the province.
