Hello Missoula!
Montana Conservation Corps is now hiring for Youth Crew Leaders for our
2016 season. Youth Crew Leaders are intrepid men and women around the ages
of 21 to 29 who take small groups of teenagers into the woods for a
four-week session of conservation, habitat, and trail work.
But we don't send them out unprepared! Youth Crew Leader terms begin with
the intensive MCC Leadership Development Program, which provides all of the
training, reinforcement and feedback necessary to develop into an effective
leader with MCC and beyond. These first three months are spent rigorously
training within the five MCC Program Objectives: communication and team
skills, leadership skills, environmental stewardship, technical field
skills, and the development of a strong service ethic. The MCC Leadership
Development Program includes training in Wilderness Advanced First Aid,
several statewide and regional soft-skill workshops, and multiple hands-on
work experiences that will develop a strong work ethic, build the ability
to endure the elements of the Rocky Mountains, and create opportunities to
hone and polish your people skills.
During this time, YCLs earn a living stipend of $626.50 biweekly and at the
end of a successful term receive an education award of $2,822.
This is great opportunity for young adults looking to step out of their
comfort zones and stretch themselves. If you or someone you know sounds
like a good fit for the position, encourage them to go to www.mtcorps.org
and apply today! Slots are filling fast and terms begin in March!
