SUBJECT:                     "YWTalk: Voting Rights and Discrimination in Montana"

MISSOULA - As the election season creeps closer to November, YWCA Missoula wants to make sure every voter has a voice. Our Spring YWTalks series continues at the YWCA with Jim Taylor who is the Legal Director for the ACLU in Montana. Jim will speak at the YWCA about voting rights litigation as it affects Native Americans in Montana. You can stop by and learn about what the ALCU does to advocate for voters, learn what you can do, and even register to vote at the registration box in the front of the office.
Jim Taylor has worked as a criminal defense lawyer as well as the Managing Attorney of the Tribal Defenders for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. He has also taught as a Visiting Clinical Supervisor at the University of Montana School of Law. In 2007, he accepted a position with the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana, and lived in China from 2008-2010 working on criminal justice reform.
