CLIMATE CHANGE SETS THE WORLD ON FIRE
Excerpts:
“…it seems like much of the world is ablaze right now, and this could be the new normal."
”A lot of these things are happening locally, but people don't always connect them to climate change," said Kevin Trenberth, a scientist at the Climate Analysis Section of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in the US. "But there is a real climate change component to this and the risk is going up because of climate change.”

EDITORIAL: Playing Climate Change Poker
EXCERPTS
Both the European Union (EU) and, at a national level, the United Kingdom have focused on a CO2 emissions cut of at least 60%, which is intended to reduce average global warming to 2 Celsius.
What are the chances of meeting the 2C objective? Not likely, according to Malte Meinshausen of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology … His analysis of 11 climate sensitivity studies of the effect of global CO2 atmospheric concentrations on temperature shows that settling for a 60% cut in atmospheric CO2 (which corresponds to 550 parts per million by volume) leaves a probability between 63 and 99% of missing the 2C target
