You are invited to attend the annual Northside vs Westside Softball
Showdown this Thursday, September 21st at the Northside Softball Field.

The annual Showdown, a North-Missoula Community Development Corporation
(NMCDC) event, brings together community members from both neighborhoods
and supporters from all across Missoula for an entertaining evening of
music, beer, hot dogs, kids' games, and friendly competition. In addition,
the event serves as a fundraiser for the NMCDC and supports its mission to
build healthy neighborhoods with opportunities for people of all ages and
abilities to live, work, and play.

This year more than ever, neighborhood bragging rights are on the line.
With the series tied 3-3, twelve players from each neighborhood will step
up to to the plate to try and secure the coveted “Railroader” trophy as
well as the series lead.

The winners of the often high-scoring game (last year’s score: 28-8 for the
Westside) get bragging rights for one year. The losers have to fulfill one
day of volunteer labor on a community service project of the winning
team's choosing. Over the years, losing teams have planted trees in the
Northside neighborhood and performed maintenance on Westside park.

The Showdown is generously sponsored by Zoo City Apparel (7 years of
neighborhood uniforms!), Draughtworks, Portico Real Estate, and Zip
Beverage.

The NMCDC has used the land stewardship model to develop three affordable
housing projects on Missoula’s Northside and Westside neighborhoods,
including Whittier Court, the Clark Fork Commons, and Burns Street Square.
For 12 years, the organization has hosted Missoula Outdoor Cinema, a
popular program that screens feature films at the old Whittier School each
summer. The NMCDC is also the original developer of the Missoula
Community Food Co-op, and manages the historic Moon-Randolph Homestead.
Exciting new programs include Real Meals, the Double Snap Dollars and a
Summer Youth Program. For more information about NMCDC please visit
