The annual Northside vs Westside Softball Showdown will take place on
Sunday September 23rd at 4pm at the Northside Softball Field (corner of
Worden and Cooley).

With the Westside leading the series 4-3, twelve players from each
neighborhood will step up to to the plate to try and secure the coveted
“Railroader” trophy as well as a community service project in their
neighborhood, courtesy of the losing team.

The annual Showdown, a North-Missoula Community Development Corporation
(NMCDC) event, brings together community members from both neighborhoods
for an entertaining evening of music, beer, hot dogs, kids games, and
high-scoring but friendly competition. It’s a great opportunity for
Northsiders and Westsiders to get to know their neighbors and build
community. In addition, the event serves as a fundraiser for the NMCDC and
supports its mission to build healthy neighborhoods with opportunities for
people of all ages and abilities to live, work, and play.

The NMCDC has used the land stewardship model to develop three affordable
housing projects on Missoula’s Northside and Westside neighborhoods,
including Whittier Court, the Clark Fork Commons, and Burns Street Square.
For 13 years, the organization has hosted Missoula Outdoor Cinema, a
popular program that screens feature films at the old Whittier School each
summer. The NMCDC is also the original developer of the Missoula Community
Food Co-op, and manages the historic Moon-Randolph Homestead. Exciting new
programs include Real Meals, the Double Snap Dollars and a Summer Youth
Program. For more information about NMCDC please visit www.nmcdc.org.
