*Sales support home building, engage new volunteers *

MISSOULA, JULY 10 – With the City-County Health Department’s new order to
wear face coverings inside all businesses, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore
in East Missoula is ramping up efforts to create and sell protective cotton
masks to the public. The masks are handcrafted by volunteers and available
in a variety of patterns.

“Bringing people together to help, and empower, each other is just what we
do,” says Habitat Executive Director Heather Harp. “The sewing process is
relatively easy, and the benefits of each sale are manifold – an
affordable, reusable protective mask goes to a community member, funds are
raised for building homes, and we’re able to engage volunteers in a new
way.”

Since the onset of COVID-19, Habitat, like many other organizations, has
had to adjust their operations to maintain staff and volunteer safety. From
temporarily closing the office and ReStore in March and April to
restricting the size of volunteer groups on the build site, these changes
have challenged Habitat’s financial stability. Habitat staff hope to see
the mask sales help alleviate this.

To purchase a mask, come to the Habitat ReStore at 3655 Montana Highway 200
East. Masks are $10 each and machine washable. The ReStore is open from 10
am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, as well as 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
