Killing Wildlife with Our Tax Dollars?

Tell the Feds: Not on Our Dime!

Dear Guardian,

During a year of unprecedented unemployment, personal suffering, and strain
on our healthcare system, it's more appalling than ever that the federal
government is still wasting taxpayer dollars to slaughter millions of
native animals under the guise of “wildlife management.” This tax day is
the perfect time to demand that the federal government
<http://wg.convio.net/site/R?i=ylktN7v67x4wgGqo9rQGig> stop wasting our tax
dollars on ineffective and unethical wildlife-killing.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s secretive wildlife-killing program,
ironically named “Wildlife Services,” does not serve wildlife, nor does it
serve American citizens. Wildlife Services is literally poisoning wildlife
and public lands.

The program discretely places traps, snares, and poisons where children and
companion animals play, with deadly results. One of these “M-44” cyanide
bombs even poisoned a child, killing his dog, while the two were playing on
public land. Wildlife Services’ indiscriminate traps and poisons not only
kill family dogs, but their wild cousins—native foxes, coyotes, and wolves.
In fact, raptors, cougars, bobcats, black bears, beavers, prairie dogs,
grizzlies, and countless other animals have also died at the hands of the
wildlife-killing program.

In 2018 (the most recent year Wildlife Services has even provided data
from), the program spent millions of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars to
kill more than 1.4 million native animals, which translates to over two
lives extinguished every minute of every day.

It is time for the government to stop funding this reckless slaughter of
native wildlife. <http://wg.convio.net/site/R?i=P9SjrdAhGbDGcZaAQmwKgw>
