Calling all young artists! The past year and a half has been trying for all of us; did you make any art, write any poetry or journal entries? The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, in partnership with All Nations Health Center, Jeanette Rankin Peace Center, and the Zootown Arts and Community Center, are inviting anyone 18 and under to contribute entries for our Resilience and Representation Exhibit.
The exhibit will be on display at the Historical Museum for the month of July, and at the Zootown Arts and Community Center for the month of August. Artists will have the option to pick up their art from the Historical Museum in September or contribute their art to the Missoula County Covid-19 Archive Project.
This exhibit is the culmination of a project called Resilience Through Representation: The Covid-19 Art and History Project. Last fall we created a series of workshops to provide opportunities for young people in Missoula to express themselves, guided by local artists. In addition to the workshops, activity kits were distributed through EmPower Place at the Missoula Foodbank and Boys and Girls Club. If you or your kiddos made art from one of the kits, those projects would be a perfect entry for the exhibit. If you're looking for inspiration, check out the Activity Kits and Crafts playlist on the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula YouTube page.<https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy8aRl9U2ND9uBCACBVd-5SZVq82_tkMO>
Prizes will be awarded for the top three entries in two different age groups: First prize: $150 value art kit | Second prize: $50 value art kit | Third prize: $25 art kit
To be eligible for a prize, you must:

  * submit a piece of art related to one of the workshops
  * submit your artwork before the deadline
  * agree art may be displayed during the exhibit.
