Missoula – Missoula for Bears <https://www.facebook.com/missoulaforbears/> and Imagine Nation Brewing Company <https://www.imaginenationbrewing.com/> are hosting a Bear Smart Brew launch party <https://www.facebook.com/events/5716817025014632> at the Imagine Nation brewery, which is located at 1151 W. Broadway, on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. The special release beer is a fruited sour ale with honey. The event is open to the public.

Sales from the beer will benefit the “Bear Smart Action Fund,”  <https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-make-missoula-mt-bearsmart?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer>which was established by local residents in partnership with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. The fund creates a source of revenue for projects that need immediate attention in order to keep bears and people safe in Missoula. The idea for creating the fund emerged in the wake of reports of a female grizzly bear and her three cubs living in the North Hills. The bears have been drawn to conflict at multiple sites with unsecured human food attractants in the past. Once bears receive a food reward, they’re likely to return in search of more food, which often leads to the bears being killed.

“Living among wildlife is our privilege,” said Blake Nicolazzo, Missoula resident and founder of the action fund. “This fund is designed to increase safety for bears and people, as willing property owners and businesses choose to enact measures to reduce conflict. It makes sense that we take responsibility for co-existing together.”
