This year the ACLU of Montana will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary<https://www.aclumontana.org/en/events/50th-anniversary> on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 5:30 PM MT. The theme for this event is honoring our past to build a better future. The event will be a celebration of all those that helped us get to where we are today, with an eye on the future. We hope you can join us!

If you make it you'll hear about ACLU of Montana's past and future work moderated by retired political reporter Mike Dennison. Additionally the Billings based band, Counting Coup, 2021 winners of Red Ants Pants Emerging Artist Competition, will perform at the event.



We will also be honoring our 2020 Jeannette Rankin Civil Liberties Award recipients! Our two honorees are Ivan and Ivy MacDonald. Through their filmmaking and advocacy, these siblings are an integral part of the effort to end the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). Their feature documentary, When They Were Here<https://www.whentheywerehere.com/>, focuses on MMIW in Montana. Through this film, Ivan and Ivy hope to bring more awareness to this issue and to ultimately influence legislative change.



With elections around the corner, we will of course discuss the importance of voting and have invited partners to join us in encouraging civic engagement. There will be tables of information, music, free swag, free food, and an auction!
