Howdy folks, just a quick forward of Friends of the Jocko’s recent funding request. This is super important to us if we are to be able to keep up with the legal battles against this horrible project just north of Arlee, and 1/2 mile from the Garden of 1,000 Buddhas.
This fight is where I have been focusing all my time and effort as of late, as the proposed 157 acre gravel pit and asphalt plant is just 1/4 mile from my home. I have devoted most of my career to helping nonprofit groups and small businesses succeed, and have seldom looked to my self interest, but in this case I have to make an exception. I’ll be posting more information about this project in the near future, but I thought I’d just forward on this request that our fund raising team has put together. There is much information and links to media stories about our battle with MT DEQ and Riverside Contracting to oppose this misguided project.
Many thanks!

These were prepared by Ferguson Law and HydroSolutions, two firms we hired to protect our community.
>
> We need to pay for these bills. We need your help. Please consider making a donation to help pay for the legal work and expert reports. We rely on your financial support. We already have spent over $30k fighting this project, and we need to reach out further to help as we near the point of having to litigate.
>
> We have received donations from members of our community, and even people outside of our community. But it has not been enough to keep up the fight. The effort mostly has been funded by a handful of people living close to the proposed pit.
>
> What’s next? We are waiting for the MT DEQ to process all of the comments folks have sent in, and to decide how they will proceed. We are waiting for their response, which could take some time, or they could just sign off on the project soon. We need to be able to react quickly, and that means being assured we have the financial resources to carry on with our efforts.
>
> We also are working with the CSKT Tribe and EWAM International, and have their support on this issue, though neither has yet to commit to any funding of legal efforts to fight this project.
>
> If you know of other potential donors or sources of funding, please write us!

> We are nonprofit corporation in the state of Montana, and our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, the Arlee CDC, is willing to accept tax deductible donations on our behalf.

> Spread the word. We need everyone in our community and the surrounding greater Missoula area to know about the damaging effects this project could bring to our lives and community. Please direct them to our website and social media.
> Donate. We need resources to pay for the law firm we have hired, to pay for expert reports and to do outreach in the community.
