[MCN] A special invitation from Parks and Recreation: Help guide our city's parks planning for the next decade

Greetings!

As a community stakeholder, you have been specially selected by Parks and Recreation Director Donna Gaukler for an exciting opportunity-to help shape the future of Missoula's parks, recreation, open space and trails. We cordially invite you to join the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails (PROST) Master Plan Community Working Group.<https://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/2309/PROST-Plan>

Your voice and leadership are needed to develop a visionary plan to transform our parks and public spaces for future generations. Join us in creating a more vibrant, equitable and sustainable future for all residents by applying for the Community Working Group by October 13<https://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/2309/PROST-Plan>.

The working group will guide the PROST planning process over the next year to update the 2004 Master Parks and Recreation Plan. This critical plan sets the course for our city's parks, recreation, open space, and trails for the next 10-15 years. The PROST planning process aims to be inclusive, equitable and focused on the needs of all community members. A diverse, representative working group is essential to developing a plan that meets the needs of all Missoula residents. Varied voices and viewpoints will lead to a more equitable, accessible, and engaging parks and recreation system that serves all.

The Community Working Group will meet approximately seven times through November 2024. Reimbursement for childcare or expenses is available if participation barriers exist.

The new PROST Master Plan will establish a long-term vision, goals, and strategies to guide the department. Extensive public outreach will ensure that the plan reflects community needs and values. We will announce public open houses, focus groups, a survey and online participation options early next year.
