The Wilderness Act just turned 60, and to celebrate Wilderness advocates are gathering this weekend—September 13-15—at Wilderness Gateway Campground on the scenic Lochsa River along Highway 12. We hope you can join us!

Wilderness Gateway is located at Milepost 122 on Highway 12, approximately 50 miles west of Lolo Pass and 55 miles east of Kamiah, Idaho. Wilderness Watch is hosting the event.

The campout and celebration will be an outstanding opportunity to celebrate the idea and ideals of Wilderness, explore the challenges ahead, discuss opportunities for strengthening wilderness policy and stewardship, and nourish our wilderness activism.

The three-day event is open to the public, and will feature inspirational speakers, group discussions, a potluck dinner, music, and more.

Friday at 6pm: Welcome and introductory remarks by Wilderness Watch staff, followed by camaraderie, reacquainting with old friends, meeting new ones, and celebrating the joy of Wilderness!

Saturday at 9am: Perspectives on the history and future for Wilderness. Presenters include representatives from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Nez Perce Tribe, past and present agency wilderness specialists, Youth Fellows from the Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation, Wilderness Watch, and more.

Saturday at 5pm: Evening potluck.

Sunday at 10am: A wrap up—Looking ahead.

There will also be time for hiking, soaking in the Lochsa, and just kicking back and enjoying the company of your fellow wilderness advocates!

We’ll also have "60" Pale Ale to share, a beer crafted by Imagine Nation Brewing in collaboration with Wilderness Watch in celebration of the Wilderness Act’s 60th anniversary.

A few other considerations: While the Wilderness Gateway campground is on Highway 12, it’s a long way to the nearest services, so please arrive prepared to be a self-sufficient camper. We’re encouraging people to bring a potluck item to share on Saturday night, but please be prepared to feed yourself over the weekend. All campsites are first come, first served.

Please contact Brett Haverstick at Wilderness Watch if you need a campsite or have any questions, at bretth at wildernesswatch.org <https://default.salsalabs.org/T455e7f37-ba04-4f86-a643-4861ab2b94c2/48332c16-0c7f-11e6-98b1-12c35146c141> or 406-542-2048, x 1.
