houses they could imagine. They imagined quite a bit.</font></div>

What will the energy-efficient house of the future look like?<br>
<br>
A fresh look may be long overdue, given the amount of damage that
homes can do to the environment.<br>
<br>
But the most important order for Mr. Mouzon is to make the house
compact. "The smaller thing you can create, the more sustainable
it is."</font><br>

four of our architects agree on: Americans need to learn to live in
smaller spaces if we are going to make an impact on the
environment.</font></div>

"Other scientists have made similar projections. According to one
study, also assuming medium-high levels of future emissions, conifer
forests are projected to shrink by half, from 24 percent of the West's
land cover in 2005 to 11 percent by 2100. The Southwest in particular
is projected to lose nearly all its conifer forests. Shrublands and
grasslands would largely replace the conifer forests, expanding from
11 percent to 25 percent of land cover in the West. These changes
could occur rapidly and should begin to become evident around 2030,
when average western temperatures reach about 1.6°F above
late-twentieth-century levels--or 0.6°F of further warming (Jiang et
al. 2013)."</font></div>
