kids with e-cigarettes and candy-flavored tobacco products?<br>Watch
MCAT tonight</h3>
<br><strong>"E-cigs and Missoula Kids"</strong> will air on MCAT
channel 189 at 5:30 p.m. today and again at 6 p.m. July 8.
<strong>Please tune in!</strong><br><br>This community health forum
was recorded by MCAT on May 17 at Sentinel High School. Speakers
include:
<ul>
<li>
<strong>Amanda Cahill, </strong>Montana government relations director,
American Heart Association.</li>
<li>
<strong>Kris Minard</strong>, Tobacco Use Prevention Education
Specialist, Montana Office of Public Instruction.</li>
<li>
<strong>Kathy Rogers, M.D.</strong>, of Missoula.</li>
<li>
<strong>Nicole Aune</strong>, MPH, Program Manager, Montana Tobacco
Use Prevention Program, Montana DPHHS.</li>
</ul>
E-cigarettes are now the most commonly used tobacco product among
Montana youth.
<ul>
<li>In 2015, more than half of Montana high schoolers had tried
e-cigarettes and 30 percent were regular users.</li>
<li>More than 99 percent of e-cigarette vape contains nicotine, which
is highly addictive and harmful to developing brains.</li>
<li>E-cigarette batteries can explode, causing severe injury and
fires.</li>
<li>Kids who use e-cigarettes are more likely to use other tobacco
products, such as cigarettes.</li>
<li>Nine out of 10 smokers begin before age 18.</li>
<li>E-cigarettes and flavored tobacco products are heavily marketed in
convenience stores, which most kids visit at least twice weekly.</li>
</ul>
