<p style="text-align: center;" dir="ltr"><span style="text-transform: uppercase;">Empower Montana Announces the Installation of  Montana’s First Rainbow Crosswalk</span></p>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Missoula, MT- </span><span>To reinvigorate Missoula’s commitment to creating a community in which diversity is celebrated, personal expression is unrestricted, and the inclusion of marginalized perspectives are a priority, we are pleased to announce that Missoula will be home to Montana’s first Rainbow Crosswalk. Communities around the world are installing rainbow-colored crosswalks in order to show support for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and all diverse gender identities and sexual orientations) community members. Since the Non-Discrimination Ordinance was passed in 2010, community members have been committed to ensuring that Missoula is not only inclusive and non-discriminatory but also a safe place to truly be yourself. While many rainbow crosswalks have been installed in response to extreme hate and violence, tragedy is not a prerequisite for acceptance, and Missoula will take a stand against hate and discrimination by installing this symbol of support. </span></p>

<p dir="ltr"><span>This project is the result of a collaborative effort on behalf of the city and LGBTQ+ youth leaders of local nonprofit organization Empower Montana. Empower Montana works to create a more just and inclusive society by developing youth and adult leaders who work to end mistreatment, correct systemic inequalities and strengthen communities across Montana. Empower Montana has worked with local donors and organizations to raise the appropriate funds to pay for all labor, resources, and installation. </span></p>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The crosswalk will be installed across the intersection of Pattee and Pine between the Missoula Art Museum’s Art Park and Adventure Cycling on Sunday August 19th. One week later on Monday August 27th, Empower Montana will be hosting a grand opening celebration at the Missoula Art Park from 5:30pm-6:30pm. All community members are welcome to join in celebrating this exciting and historical installation! </span></p>
