Please don't believe the hype!

It’s supposedly an Energy Bill, but the "North American Energy
Infrastructure Act of 2016" contains a *lethal dose of anti-wildlife
amendments* that will lead to dead wolves, dead bears and the destruction
of many important wildlife protections.

*And while pro-oil, pro-coal, climate change denying provisions are
despicable, the anti-wildlife measures are equally catastrophic.*

Dear Friend,

On *Thursday, June 23rd at 3 pm Eastern / 2 pm Central / 1 pm Mountain /
12 noon Pacific time*, the Climate Reality Check team will hold the latest
in our series of national conference calls to help strengthen community
organizing on climate, entitled:

*The Energy Policy Modernization Act: Poison Pills*

Join Jean Su of the Center for Biological Diversity, Mitch Jones of Food &
Water Watch and Mary Booth of the Partnership for Policy Integrity to learn
more about the first energy bill to pass out of both houses in nearly a
decade. What is in the energy package? How would it affect our work? What
are the next steps in stopping its passage?

Even if you can’t make it on the 23rd, register to receive a recording of
the call. <http://goo.gl/forms/b5ndjaZHmS3H2l9g1>

The Energy Policy Modernization Act (SB 2012) passed in the Senate two
months ago. Though containing some positive provisions, those are
outweighed by a number of poison pills. The bill, if signed into law, would:

· expedite the approval of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export
terminals

· further reduce the options for public input into FERC’s
decision-making processes

· weaken the powers of state governments in relation to FERC

The Senate legislation would also classify biomass as “carbon neutral,”
increase investment in under-the-ocean methane hydrates and nukes, and
repeal a requirement to make all federal buildings fossil free by 2030.
