Ayurveda, a sister science to yoga, is the oldest system of health and
healing based on the natural world. In this workshop, we'll learn how to
benefit from daily ayurvedic practices that can reduce stress, enhance well
being, build immunity, and offer a new approach to a more personalized
health plan. We'll introduce Ayurveda and its concept of good health, learn
about our constitution (or dosha) and the characteristics associated with
each constitution, and address some of the imbalances of each dosha and how
our health is impacted by these imbalances.

When trauma occurs in a person's life, the natural developmental processes
and transformations are disrupted. During this course, we will explore the
creative healing process through the metaphor of alchemical symbolism and
imagery, drawing from Carl Jung's analytical psychology and bringing in some
of the theoretical and practical work of trauma specialist, Bessel van der
Kolk. By examining trauma through the light of the stages and procedures of
the alchemical myth, we can begin to understand the natural, cyclical,
transformative process of growth and how traumatic disruption interferes
with this process.

We've all felt resilient at times and not so resilient at other times.
Thankfully, research shows that each person can develop resilience, giving
themselves a base from which to move forward into stressful times. In this
class we will study the qualities that resilient people have and we will
work throughout the class to develop those qualities. The class will be very
experiential and participants will be supported to use tools and create
habits which build resilience.
