A well-rounded mix of standing and floor yoga poses along with energizing
breathing exercises will help individuals tone, increase flexibility,
improve balance, deepen relaxation, and realign their physical body.  All
levels are welcome, however previous experience is helpful.

 

 

T'ai Chi for Veterans with Michael Norvelle

Mondays, 3:00-4:00 PM

Course Location: Missoula Vet Center, 910 Brooks, Missoula

 

T'ai Chi has been called moving meditation and centers the practitioner
emotionally and helps to relieve many of the stresses brought about by
trauma and adverse circumstances.

Yoga is one of the most beneficial complimentary therapies for Parkinson's
Disease. In this positive, motivated, and fun yoga class, we'll work, in a
manner appropriate to individuals with Parkinson's Disease, on posture,
coordination, balance, flexibility, reduced motion, and cognitive issues.
We'll also explore how the integration of the body, breath, and mind can
reduce stress levels and enhance overall health and quality of life.

Perfect for calming mind and body, this class will help you engage your week
de-stressed and with renewed energy.  This group is designed for beginning,
as well as experienced meditators and new members are welcome to join any

Yoga Beyond Cancer aims to bring the gift of yoga to survivors of any type
of cancer, at any stage of recovery.  Gentle yoga is the main practice,
along with other techniques like breath work, meditation, and body scanning.
Yoga improves the functions of the immune, nervous, and lymphatic systems,
and allows for a spiritual component.  There is no need to be flexible or
have previous experience with yoga.

 

All students must be cleared by their physician to do yoga.

 

 

Yoga for Chronic Pain with Marina Zaleski

Wednesdays 5:00-6:00 PM; ongoing class

You will learn how repetitive pain affects the nervous system and explore
the use of gentle Yoga, mindful meditation, guided visualization, and breath
work to lessen your pain.  The goal of this class is to assist you in
reducing your long term pain.

 

If you suffer from chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or various
other conditions which have led you to experience pain for 6 months or more,
this class may be for you.

 

There is a prerequisite one-on-one screening with Marina to ensure that this

Called the ultimate low-impact exercise, T'ai Chi Ch'uan has been shown to
improve cardiovascular endurance, balance, strength, and posture.  An
Australian study found it to have the same effect on heart rate, blood
pressure, and stress hormones as brisk walking.  It is a mindful practice
and has been called moving meditation.

 

 

Meditation for Veterans with Glenn Tousignant

Meditation for Vets is a guided mindfulness practice exploring the method of
paying attention to the breath to increase calm and reduce stress. No
previous experience necessary.
