"Montana is falling behind other states in its efforts to prepare for the climate risks from extreme heat, drought, and wildfires. Compared to most other states, Montana has taken less action to prepare for both its current risks and its future risks. It has taken almost no action to prepare for climate change-related impacts, with the notable exception of its 2015 State Water Plan.”

The report is somewhat dated, so any recent preparation isn’t included. That said, the States at Risk report gave Montana a D- for preparation

"The most likely way the climate could be influenced by either natural or artificial means seems to be
through a trigger mechanism that ultimately changes the radiation balance .... the burning of fossil
fuels would presumably lead to more absorption of long-wave terrestrial radiation in the atmosphere
and consequently to greater heating."
