>
> The Missoula Downtown Association is seeking artists for the Art Show at the 12th annual River City Roots Festival, slated for August 25-26, 2017 in Downtown Missoula. This year the Roots Fest Art Show is looking to feature not only traditional, “fine” art – such as paintings, pottery, and photography – but also feature more “alternative” means of art that is seen at the wildly popular Missoula MADE Fairs.
>
> As the Signature Celebration of Missoula, River City Roots Festival serves as the ‘Welcome Home’ bash for University of Montana students, faculty and staff, as well as a festival for the entire community to enjoy. Roots Fest is an admission-free event that features Music on Main, a Four-Mile Run, the Family Fun Festival, plus local food and beverages alongside the Art Show. The 2016 Roots Fest drew over 15,000 in attendance.
>
> “The Roots Fest Art Show has displayed some of the best art you’ll see in this region,” said Ellen Buchanan, Roots Fest Committee Chair. “Our goal every year is to bring in artists with unique styles and items for folks to enjoy and purchase. This year we’re even bringing in different types of art often featured at the Missoula MADE Fair, which will be a great addition to our show. Missoula has a strong commitment to the arts and the Art Show showcases this love – Roots Fest wouldn’t be complete without it. ”
>
> Artists are encouraged to apply online at rivercityrootsfestival.com/art-show by Friday, April 21. Booth fees are $150 for the two-day art show on Main Street; $175 for a double booth. Approximately 40 artists will be selected by committee. Artist feedback indicates the Roots Fest Art Show is one of the best in the region due to hospitality services, venue, music selection, and weather.
