Hello,

Join the fun and engagement of the world famous Bread and Puppet
Theater at Free Cycles on Friday, Oct. 12th, from 8pm to 9pm. Sliding
scale donations, no one turned away. Local brass band and circus acts
will run 7pm to 8pm, with a community pot luck for the puppeteers at
6:30pm.

We are looking for home stays for all 20 of the troupe. Please email
me at mist at strans.org if you can host anyone for the night of fri.
10/12 after their performance.

Thanks, -Bob Giordano, Director, Free Cycles

About the troupe:

The Bread and Puppet Theater was founded in 1963 by Peter Schumann on
New York City’s Lower East Side. Besides rod-puppet and hand puppet
shows for children, the concerns of the first productions were rents,
rats, police, and other problems of the neighborhood. More complex
theater pieces followed, in which sculpture, music, dance and language
were equal partners. The puppets grew bigger and bigger.

In 1974 Bread and Puppet moved to a farm in Glover in the Northeast
Kingdom of Vermont. The 140-year old hay barn was transformed into a
museum for veteran puppets. Today, Bread and Puppet continues to be
one of the oldest, nonprofit, self-supporting theatrical companies in
the country.
