What do healthy forests have to do with great beer? A new campaign, called
“Project Beerwater” aims to answer that question by raising awareness of
the role that Missoula’s national forests play in producing clean water.
Join the National Forest Foundation, the National Wild Turkey Federation,
the U.S. Forest Service and Missoula’s craft breweries to learn how healthy
forests produce clean water, the key ingredient in one of Missoula’s
favorite “forest products” – great beer.
The groups have placed posters, table tents and other educational materials
in the Great Burn, Bayern, Kettlehouse, Draught Works, Imagine Nation,
Conflux and Highlander breweries. Each brewery also has donation boxes
where patrons can support forest restoration activities that improve our
local watersheds.
The NFF will work with the Forest Service to invest funds raised through
the campaign on a watershed restoration project on the Lolo or Bitterroot.
Various brewery events are scheduled to generate funds and awareness for
Project Beerwater.
Events include:
October 24th - Biers for Benefits - Bayern Brewery – 6-8 pm
October 29th – Giving Back Night – Highlander Brewery – 6-8 pm
November 1st – Social Night – Northside Kettlehouse Brewery – 6-8 pm
November 7th – Community Night – Imagine Nation Brewery – Special Event
with Forest Service staff speaking about forests, fire, and healthy
watersheds– 6-8 pm (presentations 6-7 pm)
November 20th – Pint Night with kids activities -- Conflux Brewery – 5-7 pm
