Hi, my name is Sarah Smith; I'm the local Missoula area coordinator for Greenheart Exchange. I help to facilitate high school exchanges with international students and host families. I have two students from the Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan coming to the area as part of our Montana/Kumamoto Sister State exchange. They are both in need of host families for the upcoming 10 month school year.

*Tomo - 17 year old boy. He will be coming in as a junior and he is a dedicated tennis player back home. It sounds like he plays most every day for 2-4 hrs. Last year he won Kumamoto Prefecture doubles championship. He is from Kumamoto, Japan and is part of the Kumamoto/Montana sister-state exchange program. He is a great student who dreams of becoming a marine biologist/veterinarian focusing on sea animals.

*Ami is an 18 year old girl from Kumamoto, Japan who is thrilled to be coming to the U.S. to study this fall. In her free time, she loves to sing and play guitar, and she dreams of being a rock star one day! Ami also enjoys volunteering and is excited to volunteer in her host community this year. She is grateful to her host family for taking her in this year and making her a member of their family.

Details on Hosting
Greenheart is expansive and inclusive in our definition of family for hosting - and are really just looking for a family who can open their home to include this student as a member of their own. The students comes with their own spending money and insurance. The host family provides room and board (must be a separate bed), a place to study, transportation, and a welcoming home.

If you know of any families who may be a great match for Ami and Tomo please reach out to me. Feel free to share this email. It's a terrific exchange program. My son and I ended up hosting a previous years Kumamoto student and truly had a blast with her.
I will be able to assist anyone with the application process and happy to answer any questions at all. Even if you are slightly intrigued by the idea, but are afraid of committing, I would love to speak with you more. It is also possible to be a welcome family; where the student would live with you for the first month to get them situated and oriented to their high school, before transitioning to a permanent host family.
Thanks for your time.
Best,
Sarah
