 The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Montana seeksan experienced nonprofit full-charge bookkeeping professional. This is an independentcontractor position. 

If you know of a great and experienced nonprofit bookkeeper in your professionalnetworks that may be a good fit and available, please share this with them and feel free to send them our way to put in a proposal/application.

We are looking to work with a highly experienced bookkeeperwith at least five years of strong non-profit and fund-accounting expertise,who has solid and proven experience managing multiple funding sources andgrants, who has advanced expertise in QuickBooks accounting software, and isavailable to perform bookkeeping services in our Missoula office location. Highattention to detail and accuracy, strong integrity, good communication skills,and commitment to serving the mission of ACLU of Montana are required.

We anticipate the approximate weekly hours to be four to six(4-6), with flexibility for busier or less busy weeks, depending on need.
Responsibilities willinclude    
   - ·        Following all financial policies and proceduresto ensure strong internal controls are being enforced;
   
   -      Accounts receivable (A/R) – Record payments,donations, grants and pledges receivable, reimbursable expenses and code toaccurate accounts and grant classes;
   
   - ·        Bank deposits – Make bank deposits weekly;
   
   - ·        Accounts payable (A/P) – Process invoices, billsand reimbursement requests and code to accurate accounts and grant classes, ensurethat payments are made in a timely matter;
   
   - ·        Processing employee expense reporting; 
   
   - ·        Posting all financial data in the accountingsystem (QB);
   
   - ·        Account reconciliations – Monthly bank account andincome reconciliations; 
   
   - ·        Managing financial data and accurate recordings for501 (c)(3) and 501 (c)(4) with a solid understanding of differences in (c)(3) and(c)(4) nonprofit accounting;
   
   - ·        Bi-weekly payroll processing and payroll taxprocessing – ensure accurate grant class coding and administration of benefits;
   
   - ·        Payroll tax reporting and payments and year-endemployee W-2 and vendor 1099 processing;
   
   - ·        Assisting external auditors with annual auditand tax preparations and preparing audit schedules;
   
   - ·        Assisting the Director of Finance and Operationswith monthly close-out procedures to ensure timely processing of monthlyfinancials and other projects as needed;
   
   - ·        Consulting and collaborating with the Directorof Finance and Operations and Executive Director on areas of financialmanagement.
