Salary: $32,000-$41,500 dependant on education and experience; plus

A one-year contract for 2019/2020 (Academic Year)

Reports to Academic Director



Sussex School, a progressive K-8 day school located in Missoula, Montana,
seeks a kindergarten through eighth-grade physical education and wellness
teacher. The physical education and wellness program at Sussex School
offers an enriching educational atmosphere that supports critical thinking,
courage, creativity, and citizenship in its students and teachers. Faculty
and staff are highly engaged and enjoy the flexibility, autonomy, and
collaboration associated with progressive education.



The Sussex School physical education and wellness teacher seeks out
opportunities for team teaching and works closely with teachers of other
disciplines, especially the outdoor education lead teacher. The physical
education and wellness teacher also serves as a support for the outdoor
education program, which includes leading class field trips, supporting the
middle school outdoor adventure program, as the "on the ground" lead
instructor, and facilitating other school-related expeditions.



Successful Sussex School teachers are lifelong learners who are reflective
about their practice, find ways to bring ‘real-life’ into their classrooms,
have a ready sense of humor, enjoy the outdoors, value the arts, and seek
out professional development and leadership opportunities.



Preferred Qualifications

   -

   A degree in education or field related to physical education/wellness.
   -

   At least three years of successful experience teaching.
   -

   Strong skills in physical education, Montana-oriented outdoor pursuits,
   and wellness education.
   -

   Passion for student-centered, differentiated instruction.
   -

   Commitment to progressive teaching/learning.
   -

   An ability to work closely and communicate effectively with all Sussex
   School community stakeholders.
