Missoula,

Tomorrow is the last day to submit comments on the proposed U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regulations that would weaken the Endangered Species Act. The regulations are supported by U.S. Senators Tester and Daines.

The regulations are being proposed because of a lawsuit Cottonwood won in district court, the Ninth Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court that stopped several timber sales in critical habitat for Canada lynx.

The new regulations would eliminate the requirement of the U.S. Forest Service to review its management plans with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service when new science becomes available. The single reason Canada lynx were listed as a threatened species is because management plans were inadequate to protect the species.

If you believe our National Forests should be managed using science, please submit a comment. Cottonwood has provided draft comments and a link to the FWS comment page here. <https://www.cottonwoodlaw.org/esa-action-alert>

Thank you.
