We need to push back. Whether we like it or not, we're on a carbon budget.
Our atmosphere can absorb, calculated from the beginning of 2020, no more
than 400 gigatons (Gt) of CO2 if we want to stay below the 1.5°C threshold
of rising temperatures. Right now we're generating 1,337 tons per second,
or 42.2 Gt per year. Do the math. The clock is ticking.

This is the wrong time to expand oil and gas drilling. The four horsemen of
the Montana Apocalypse (dying rivers, megafires, extreme weather, and
drought) have their horses saddled and ready to ride.
All power is derived from us. We were given the tools in this democracy to
make our wishes known. Voting is just one of these many tools. Taking over
public space and voicing outrage is another. The First Amendment to the
Constitution is clear: we have the ability "peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
We have eight years to get fossil fuels under control. We have to keep
fossil fuels in the ground. We can't drill our way out of our predicament.
In fact, the increasing prices of gasoline and natural gas make renewable
energy more affordable than ever

And, the essential fact about renewables is, once we pay for the
infrastructure, we never have to pay for fuel again.
We hope to see you on Tuesday.
