Each year, Soil Cycle, dedicates their time to organizing a pumpkin
recycling program for post-holiday "waste." "The super spooky news about
pumpkin waste is that out of the 1.3 billion pumpkins that are produced in
the US each year, about 1 billion of those get taken to the landfill each
year. Soil Cycle <https://www.soilcyclemissoula.com/>, a Missoula-based
composting nonprofit, is stepping in to redirect Halloween pumpkins to a
local family farm as nutrient-rich animal feed. Soil Cycle with the
help of Little
Dumps <https://littledumps.com/> will deliver pumpkins to Turner Farms
<https://www.turnerfarms406.com/visiting-the-farm/> this year - our goal
this year is 7,000lbs of pumpkins!

*Monday October 31st through November 5th*, pumpkin reharvest bins will be
at: Soil Cycle, Caras Nursery, Rockin' Rudy's, Sussex Elementary School,
and MUD.

This takes a big community effort, so donations are appreciated and can be
made at soilcyclemissoula.com. When they aren't collecting pumpkins, Soil
Cycle is a bicycle-powered food waste collection service.
