Position Title: Workshop Coordinator
Start Date: Mid-October
Mission Statement: Home Resource is a non-profit community sustainability
center. We work with, in, and for the community to reduce waste and build a
more vibrant and sustainable local economy. We collect and sell reusable
materials, channel materials to those in need, provide meaningful work
opportunities, and educate & inspire to promote a sustainable future.
Job Summary: The Home ReSource Workshop Coordinator will support the Home
ReSource mission by testing donations through our ReVamp Workshop and
coordinating with other staff in the process, organizing and leading
educational programs through workshops and Fix-It Clinics, and assisting in
our youth and community work programs. This position reports to the
Programs Director and is part of the Home ReSource Program Team with ample
coordination with all staff. Many of our workshops and Fix-It clinics take
place during the evenings and weekends.

Position Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
-
Ensure day-to-day operations are safe, well-managed, and conducted
according to policies, procedures, organizational culture, and SOPs
-
Know, support, enforce, model, and train on organizational policies,
procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), especially those
around the woodshop
-
Assist in the repair and upkeep of inventory, tools, and infrastructure
Program Coordination
-
Coordinate programming, working with community partners and volunteers
to provide accessible, engaging workshop opportunities for community members
-
Support community workshops by running specific programs and working
with staff, contract trainers, and volunteers, who are properly trained, to
lead workshops
-
Develop, organize, coordinate volunteers, and execute Fix-It Clinics
-
Be available for programming, which will include evening and weekend
programs
-
In coordination with the store team and work program employees, process
and ReVamp donated materials to get ready for sale in the ReUse store
-
Provide program numbers on a regular basis to support grant and funding
work
-
Lead and co-lead community workshops and staff trainings in our
woodshop.
Workshop
-
Ensure that all tools in the shop are properly maintained and repaired
-
Ensure that the shop is kept clean and safe at all times
-
Conduct a regular schedule of shop tool training for Home ReSource Staff
-
Help make cuts for store customers and give advice about materials to
both store customers and staff.
Communication
-
Communicate relevant organizational issues, events, instructions,
priorities, and procedures using appropriate communication channels;
including morning huddles, day-to-day communication, and e-mail
communication
-
Participate in operational meetings, be prepared with updates and issues
to address
-
Provide timely and constructive feedback using all HR feedback channels,
including annual employee reviews
Safety
-
Recognize and intervene in risky or unsafe situations, ensure employees
are following best safety practices and managing risks appropriately
-
Provide ongoing safety, procedural, SOP, and other necessary information
and training to employees, program participants, and volunteers to promote
a clean, safe, positive environment
-
Become a trained instructor on workshop tool safety and use
-
Participate in all in-house safety trainings and lead safety trainings
in the shop for staff
Skills Required
-
Management and supervisory skills

Familiarity with building materials use, reuse, and pricing

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Problem-solving, team-building, and conflict resolution skills

Prior experience with woodworking and woodworking tools
-
Desire and willingness to work with people of all abilities
Essential Functions

Able to be on your feet and moving, stand for long periods of time

Communicate effectively through email, verbally in person, and on the
phone

Able to move heavy and awkward building materials

Be adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances
-
Competent with the safe operation of most power tools
-
Schedule flexibility, and the ability to work evenings and weekends to
accommodate programming needs
Minimum Qualifications
-
Experience in woodworking or a relevant trade
-
Computer proficiency using Google-based software (Docs, Sheets, Email,
and Internet)
Hours, Pay: 20-25 hours per week, $18.50 - $20.00/HR DOE. Evening and
weekend work may be required to support Home ReSource programming and
events.
