ReStore Manager Position Description

 

 

RESTORE MISSION:  The ReStore sells used and surplus building supplies and
appliances at a reduced rate of the retail price in order to fund Habitat
for Humanity of Missoula's (HFHM) affordable home-ownership program, ensure
people have access to affordable materials to maintain and improve their
homes and to divert usable materials from the landfills.  

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The ReStore Manager, in accordance with the objectives,
policies and directives set by the Executive Director and Board of
Directors, provides overall managerial leadership for the Missoula Habitat
ReStore.  The ReStore Manager is responsible for the overall management of
the ReStore's day-to-day operations and strategically planning for the
store's future.  

 

The ReStore Manager will provide sustained network development to expand the
scope of Habitat ReStore activities and develop long-term, collaborative
relationships with community based trade/business groups, churches, donors
and others to secure donations and raise awareness of Missoula Habitat
mission in the community. Other duties may be assigned.  This position
reports to the Executive Director. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Management

.         Responsible for driving donations, sales and profits of the
Missoula Habitat ReStore to further the affiliate's mission and working with
various internal and external resources to positively promote the Habitat
ReStore and Habitat for Humanity of Missoula.

.         Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing
donors, including individuals, businesses, community and church groups to
increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.

.         Determine protocols and procedures for volunteers to follow
regarding donations, pricing, customer service, and communication.

.         Implement and maintain donor tracking and recognition program in
conjunction with the Executive Director.

.         Works cooperatively and effectively with other staff, agencies,
and professionals in the community.

.         Ensure the Executive Director is regularly informed on the status
of the Habitat ReStore with particular attention paid to problem areas,
project status and extraordinary events.  Provide reports on store
performance or strategic projections as needed.  

.         Participate in developing, rolling out and measuring marketing and
advertising programs to increase donations, sales, volunteer participation
and overall public awareness of the ReStore.  

*	Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and Treasurer to
develop annual operating budgets and recommend capital expenditures.

.         Create and track pricing and inventory in the POS system.

 

Operational

.         Ensure proper maintenance of facility, vehicles and equipment.

.         Maintain a safe, clean building, inside and out with particular
emphases on product display being kept in a neat and organized fashion.  

.         Oversee all retail operations and ensure consistent, smooth and
efficient operations.

.         Effectively manage Habitat ReStore assets to ensure a healthy,
positive and safe work environment that adheres to the ReStore mission.  

.         Ensure the ReStore is adequately staffed and all personnel
understand and can effectively communicate the Habitat ReStore, and Habitat
for Humanity of Missoula's mission to members of the public. 

*	Supervise drivers; implement daily operations procedures for pick-up
of donated products.

.         Identify and initiate opportunities to reduce expenses and create
increased operational efficiencies.

.         Identify policies that need to be drafted and recommend
modifications to existing policies.

.         Ensure the ReStore adheres to government regulations as well as
the policies of HFHM and Habitat for Humanity International.

.         Determine product needs and acceptable donations and monitor
pricing to ensure appropriate pricing for fast sale.

.         Ensure exemplary customer service is provided by all staff &
volunteers at store.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

*	Possess tact, diplomacy and flexibility
*	Ability to supervise and instruct volunteers of all skill levels 

.         Excellent communications skills with external audiences: sponsors,
donors, community leaders, volunteers, media, and peers 

*	Enthusiasm, teamwork focused and strong customer service orientation
*	Well organized and detail oriented
*	Effective leadership and team building skills
*	Computer proficiency using Windows based software (Word, Excel,
Email, and Internet).
*	Competence with the safe operation of most power tools
*	Ability to manage time, detailed work, and priorities of a
multi-faceted job within a fast paced environment

 

Qualifications

 

.         This individual must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and will
experience frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

.         BA or BS preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.


.         Experience in retail sales, marketing, salvage and environmental
desirable.

.         Successful applicants must agree to a background check.

Salary:  Full time position; $30,000 - $34,000 yearly depending on
