*Missoula, Montana*. Starting Friday, February 19th the Big Sky 
Documentary Film Festival will begin 10 days of non-stop reality.  With 
over 200 films from across the world to choose from in 5 venues across 
downtown Missoula (The Wilma, The Crystal, The Roxy, The Top Hat and 
Shakespeare & Co) the event definitely features something for everyone. 
In addition to regular film screenings, the festival features many 
special events.

*OPENING NIGHT FREE FILM - FEBRUARY 19 @ 6 PM - *Thanks to major 
festival sponsor HBO Documentary Films, we are screening MAVIS!,**the 
first feature documentary on gospel/soul music legend and civil rights 
icon Mavis Staples and her family group, The Staple Singers. From the 
freedom songs of the ’60s and hits like /I’ll Take You There/ in the 
’70s, to funked-up collaborations with Prince and her recent albums with 
Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Mavis has stayed true to her roots, kept her family 
close, and inspired millions along the way. Come early, doors open at 5p

* Walker, a British director whose films include features THE CRASH REEL 
and WASTELAND has earned more than 80 awards and two Academy Award 
nominations. BSDFF will feature her entire body of work the first 
weekend (Feb 20-21), as well as a new virtual reality project at The

this year's DocShop - a 5-day conference for filmmakers and 
professionals discussing the art and impact of filmmaking. For all media 
makers and enthusiasts, DocShop tackles the filmmaking process through 
invaluable continuing education for the veteran and emerging filmmaker.

*Timoner is the only two-time recipient of Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize, 
for the documentaries DIG! and WE LIVE IN PUBLIC. Seven of her films 
will be screened starting Thursday Feb 25th, including her 2015 film, 
BRAND: A SECOND COMING, about the actor, comedian and activist Russell 
Brand. Additionally, Timoner will hold a MASTER CLASS on Friday Feb 26th 
(at 4p at the UC Theater) as she discusses her process of how she makes 
documentaries. Walker and Timoner will be among the nearly 200 
filmmakers in attendance, offering festival goers the chance to engage 
in post-screening Q&As.

MUSIC PERFORMANCES - *Step away from the silver screen and take in a 
couple of live performances during the festival! On Monday Feb 22nd 
former Soul Asylum sideman George McKelvey will play a live concert 
following the movie that chronicles his musical quest, THE FIGHT TO
