The Downtown Missoula Partnership is hiring a Community Development
Manager. This position is responsible for the economic development and
fundraising strategies of the Downtown Missoula Partnership, which is
comprised of the Missoula Downtown Association, the Downtown Business
Improvement District and the Missoula Downtown Foundation.
This includes but is not limited to: the cultivation, solicitation and
stewardship of investors, developers and donors, grant writing and
management, capital campaign fundraising, economic development activities,
data management and support functions as they relate to the goals of the
Partnership.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
*Fundraising*
- Create and nurture relationships with prospective donors, foundations,
individuals and potential investors to accomplish the economic development
initiatives of Downtown and the Partnership
- Create and implement annual development fund strategy and assist in
the budget process for the Missoula Downtown Foundation and its projects
and programs
- Research and write grant applications for Downtown projects and
programs as they relate to the Downtown Master Plan and serve as grant
administrator on successful acquisitions
- Research and attract new prospects for financial contributors and
supporters of Downtown in an effort to stimulate the Downtown economy and
the resources of the Missoula Downtown Foundation
- Prepare and distribute grant and fundraising reports for board
meetings and stakeholders when appropriate
- Assist with the development of annual strategy for event sponsorship
sales in coordination with program staff and event committees
- Assist with the development of marketing and communications strategies
as they pertain to outreach and fund development
- Provide oversight for grant-funded programs
*Economic Development*
- Work with local organizations, businesses and others to attract
investors to Downtown through planning, project development and promotional
activities
- Work to ensure implementation of the Downtown Master Plan
*Database Management*
- Oversee research projects and management of the Missoula Downtown
Inventory database
- Manage and improve Downtown donor databases
- Represent the Partnership at community events and meetings where
appropriate
*The Community Development Manager must:*
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of capital campaigns,
fundraising and grant writing
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate professionalism and ability to cultivate partnerships and
develop relationships to advance the goals of Downtown
- Demonstrate knowledge and abilities in fundraising and grant writing
- Demonstrate ability to work with investors and developers
*Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills & abilities):*
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
- 3-4 years of experience in fund development and grant writing
- Knowledge of community development strategies
- Proficient computer skills and experience in database management
- Experience in grant research, writing and non-profit fundraising
- Proven project management skills
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Proven time management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility, dependability and creativity
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
