"Forests are a prominent feature of the landscape across the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and northern New York. Stretching from the coast of the Atlantic Ocean to the peaks of the Appalachian Mountains, this region contains more than 50 million acres of land, of which 40 million acres are forest. Increasingly, the effects of a changing climate are altering the forests of the Northeast, and many of these impacts are projected to continue and intensify in the future."

climate targets like 1.5 °C or 2 °C are to be met.”
