Hello there,
Please see the below description for the next installment in the Wilderness Lecture Series held by the Wilderness Institute. Thanks!
Begin Description:
Becca Skinner - Storytelling Through the Lens: How Photography Influences Conservation Efforts
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but how can images shape the ways we protect and relate to our changing climate and world? Throughout her career as a photographer and writer, Becca Skinner has focused her camera lens on everything from post-natural disaster communities to the conservation of the outdoors, showing the relationship between humans and landscape. In this talk presented by the Wilderness Institute, Skinner outlines highlights in her career--from her work as a National Geographic Young Explorer, to a lasting interest in protecting Western landscapes, to a mature knowledge of the value of images as tools for education and change in an increasingly interconnected and media-heavy world.
Join us for this free public lecture and discussion on Tuesday, February 26 at 7 p.m. in Gallagher Business Building 123 on the University of Montana campus. Skinner's talk is the sixth in the Wild Hope: Fearless Risk Takers, Art Markers and Storytellers on Wilderness and Conservation Front Lines lecture series, presented by the Wilderness Institute. The Wilderness Issues Lecture Series continues weekly until March 5.
