Protecting wilderness study areas is critically important. For decades, the
U.S. Forest Service and other federal agencies have managed these
proto-wildernesses the same way they manage congressionally designated
wilderness: to keep out development, to keep them off limits to motorized
and mechanized travel, and to preserve or enhance the wilderness character.

The agencies must keep them wild!

That's cause for both celebration. And that's cause for activism because
two of Montana's three congressional representatives favor opening
wilderness study areas for development, and mountain-bikers are working
with them and other troglodytes in Congress to loosen restrictions on bikes
in wilderness.

So celebration and activism are happening -- plus music, food, and drink!
-- tomorrow, *Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. *at the Bedford Building, 223
S. Second Street in Hamilton during the *"Wild Places, Wild Times" Party*.

Wuerthner. Door prizes include a Dolack poster and Patagonia gear.
