There are many reasons why this bill is bad. Here are a few:

• This bill hinders wildlife management by making citizen harvest preferred
method of management over all others, including FWP. It means species
reintroduction, removal of non-native fish and urban deer control will not
be legal if citizen harvest cannot be used. Citizen management is not
scientific; it is driven by self-interest.

• Hunting and fishing are already protected as opportunities forever.
Protecting specific activities like trapping in the constitution will force
conflicting activities like farming to require protection to preserve water
rights. The constitution will be littered with special interests and
damaged with inconsistencies, ultimately rendering it useless.

• Trapping should not be a “right” just as poison, set guns and
spotlighting game should not be rights. The market for fur is falling
precipitously worldwide. Most pelts go unsold. Trapping does not provide
sustenance.

• Trapping is wanton waste of a public resource.

• Traps kill indiscriminately. The average is two non-target animals killed
for every target animal. This includes endangered species and pets.

• This amendment has no definitions. Undefined terms such as "current"
means and methods, "necessary" management laws and regulations, "undue"
bans and restrictions will lead to countless lawsuits.
