Hi Missoula/Bitterroot/Arleearea families!
I'mthe local coordinator for Greenheart Exchange looking for a host family for agirl from Kumamoto, Japan for the 2025-26 high school year. Hostingis from August – early/mid-June (essentially the school year). Their visa is attachedto their school attendance.
Thisyear, Asahi has been selected as the Appleseed scholar from Kumamoto, Japan.Asahi comes from a close and supportive family of 5 with two older sisters. Sheis a cheerful, helpful, and independent person. Her motto is "I want totry anything"! She says even if you fail sometimes, that is how you learnnew things. She studies chemistry and physics in school and works hard toprepare for university. She loves listening to music, singing, and cooking. Andwould love to share traditional Japanese cooking for your family. Family isvery important to her; and back home she loves talking, cooking, and shoppingwith her mom and sisters. She is afraid of pets, but is willing to try. She isexcited to ski here and explore the outdoors of Montana, and learn about Nativeculture.
Greenheartstudents come with their own spending money and health insurance; host familiesare expected to provide 3 meals a day, a bed/room of their own (they can sharea bedroom with a host sibling of same-sex), transportation to and from school, and most importantly an open and loving home to treat them as one of their ownto share their lives for a home stay. Greenheart Exchange is open and inclusivein its host families.
Pleasecontact me, Sarah Smith, if you are interested... or even curious to hear moreinformation: (406)270-1811 or email smaigin at yahoo.com
Youdon't have to be perfect, just open to the experience of cultural exchange andwilling to share your home and life experiences with another. TheseKumamoto students are selected through a rigorous process and are excited toshare their Japanese culture while making connections and memories with afamily here in Montana.
